Sterling Rings the Nasdaq Closing Bell

Sterling joined fellow winners of the Chicago Innovation Awards, the Chicago region’s foremost annual celebration of innovation, in New York City on Monday, March 25th to ring the Closing Bell of the Nasdaq Stock Market.

Sterling was recognized with a Chicago Innovation Award for its TerraLam® CLT (Cross-Laminated Timber) mat in October 2018. The patent pending TerraLam CLT mats use renewable southern yellow pine to create a mat that is lighter, faster, and longer lasting than traditional bolted mats with significantly less environmental impact.

“Sterling has created a culture where our employees find innovative solutions to our customer’s challenges,” said Carter Sterling, Chief Executive Officer of Sterling. “We’re proud to celebrate this award with our fellow Innovation Award winners.”

TerraLam CLT mats are used primarily in the electric transmission and distribution, oil and gas pipeline, and civil construction fields. Site access mats are used to protect sensitive or undisturbed soil in rights-of-way from tires and tracks of heavy construction equipment.

“Chicago Innovation Award winners cut across all industries and represent the best in new product and service development from large companies, startups and non-profits,” said Tom Kuczmarski, co-founder of the Chicago Innovation Awards.  “Their winning innovations are solving a range of unmet needs in the marketplace, and we’re proud to celebrate their successes on a global stage by ringing the Nasdaq Bell.”
