Located just south of Chicago, the 60-acre Phoenix campus houses our corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility, which has a production capacity of 1,000 TerraLam mats per day. These mats are shipped from here to our customers’ jobsites, with our shipping and receiving team servicing up to 200 truck shipments per day.
Phoenix is also home to Sterling’s Innovation Lab, where our Innovation team develops new products and enhancements to our existing products. They also implement quality control systems for our TerraLam mats that are unmatched in timber mat production. These efforts support our ability to achieve consistent product quality, efficacy, and safety, along with our ability to meet increasing customer demand.

Sterling opened its second cross-laminated timber (CLT) manufacturing facility in Lufkin in 2019. Sterling leadership chose this location because of its proximity to our customers in Texas and the southern region as well as its proximity to raw materials, specifically the southern yellow pine used to build TerraLam mats. It is home to a 350,000-square-foot manufacturing facility with the capacity to produce 200,000 TerraLam mats per year. It also serves as a distribution center, branch office, and the Texas office of Sterling Access Solutions.

After only six years in our corporate headquarters, we ran out of office space – but we aren’t done growing. Our current satellite office in Downers Grove was chosen for its accessible location and opportunity for expansion should it be required.
