STERLING CRANE MATS​

Sterling’s crane mats are purpose-built for heavy-duty applications, offering key advantages over standard timber mats. Unlike timber mats, which vary in size and thickness, crane mats are typically 12×12 inches, providing a uniform and robust platform that enhances stability and load distribution for heavy equipment. Constructed from dense hardwood or solid Douglas Fir timbers, crane mats are engineered to handle extreme pressures while maintaining durability. Their design features include narrow notches for precise placement, exposed lifting bolts on each end for easy transport, countersunk nuts to reduce wear and tear, and flush-cut long bolts for a smooth, snag-free surface. These elements ensure that Sterling’s crane mats deliver the strength, reliability, and functionality required to support cranes and other large machinery in challenging environments.

HOW ARE CRANE MATS USED?​

Crane mats are often used to provide stability for cranes during heavy lifts, especially in the renewable energy (wind) industry, where construction includes lifting the ultra-heavy components of wind turbines. They are frequently used on jobsites in the oil and gas, electric utility, and civil construction industries during the construction of pipelines, bridges, and powerlines.
